چکیده
Abstract OBJECTIVE While the intraoperative assessment of short-latency somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) phase reversal in electrocorticogram (ECoG) is routinely used to locate central sulcus (CS), its spatial-spectral patterns primary sensorimotor cortex and relation consciousness not well characterized. Our goal was evaluate functional utility using median nerve stimulation-induced ECoG sub-band modulations pre-and post-CS differentiate between anesthetized awake states. Method: SSEPs were recorded from with during routine cortical mapping 8 patients We conducted a time-frequency analysis on SSEP trace each state extract spectral up 900Hz contrasted their intensity M1 S1 discern RESULTS observed late gamma activity ranging 60-250Hz, starting approximately 50ms after stimulation onset extending 250ms. The suppressed both (p< 0.01) (p=0.0369). Whiles state, power increased significantly respect baseline (p=0.0180) 0.01). difference highly significant for CONCLUSION results show that besides CS delineation, long latency can serve as an additional biomarker monitor level neurosurgical practice.

Thalamocortical connections of the primary somatosensory cortex
Although each subdivision of primary somatosensory cortex (SI) receives dense input from the thalamus, but the exact location and type of information that the fibers convey have not been identified yet. In the present study, the exact source of thalamocortical fibers to areas 2 and 3b was investigated using tract-tracing techniques. Following injection of tracer into area 3b, labeled neurons ...
متن کاملShort-latency median-nerve somatosensory-evoked potentials and induced gamma-oscillations in humans.
Recent studies have suggested that cortical gamma-oscillations are tightly linked with various forms of physiological activity. In the present study, the dynamic changes of intracranially recorded median-nerve somatosensory-evoked potentials (SEPs) and somatosensory-induced gamma-oscillations were animated on a three-dimensional MR image, and the temporal and spatial characteristics of these ac...

Motor responses evoked by transcranial magnetic stimulation OMS) or transcranial electrical stimulation (TCS) can be facilitated by a prior conditioning stimulus to an afferent nerve. Two facilitation periods are described short (SI), when the nerve stimulus is given near 0 to 10 ms after cranial stimulation, and long (LI), when nerve stimulation is given 25-60 ms before the cranial stimula...
